McLaren already secured the constructors championship back after the start of the month with a lead so massive that it's mathematically impossible to lose it. Earlier in the season it looked like the drivers championship would definitely go to one of the two McLaren drivers - either Oscar Piastri, who currently leads, or Lanfo Norris.
That's increasingly looking less certain. Max Verstappen has been on a real charge and has dramatically closed on both McLaren drivers. As of the recent race at Circuit of the Americas (CotA), Piastri barely leads with 346 points. His teammate, Lando Norris, is 14 points behind with 332. Unfortunately for both of them, Max Verstappen is rapidly gaining with 306 at the moment. He still has a way to go, but if he keeps winning it should get really tight over the remaining five races.
